Bio: Thomas Venema is a therapist based in the Niagara region with over 34 years of experience working as a therapist. Over 35 years ago, he started his career working in adult mental health systems. He opened a private practice in 1979, Lidkea, Stob, Venema & Associates, where he worked for 33 years. In 2012, he opened Venema Family Counselling, based in St. Catharines, Ontario. Venema Family Counselling works to help people effectively and efficiently deal with personal and relationship issues while teaching them how to cope with these same issues in the future. Thomas has always worked to have a strong presence in the Niagara community. During the 1990s, he was a monthly regular on a live Cable TV show, What’s Up Niagara, where he spoke about personal lifestyle and relationships. He used to do speaking engagements throughout Canada, speaking about issues such as stress, conflict resolution and dealing with difficult people. For 13 years, Thomas served as mental health advisor to the Niagara Firefighters. Serving in this capacity, he accompanied the firefighters to Ground Zero in the aftermath of September 11th.
